SECTION B : TASK ANALYSIS Question 2 (d)

 Task analysis is the process of breaking a skill into smaller more manageable components. It is essential in ensuring students are able to understand and successfully complete apportioned tasks. It has beneficial in developing my teaching practice because it enables me to ensure my students are aware of all steps required to complete assigned tasks. The following is a task analysis for a task taken from Lesson #5 of the Sample Lesson Plans section.

 

ACTIVITY:

Students are required to complete their batik piece. When they are completed applying dye, they are required to remove the wax from their piece.

TASK ANALYSIS

Students will…

Teacher will…

1. Ensure each section of design requiring pigment is dyed and the fabric has dried completely.

2. Gather materials needed to remove wax. Newspaper, iron and ironing board.

3. Plug in and turn on iron to cotton heat setting.

4. Place fabric between two pieces of newspaper and iron. The wax will begin to melt absorbed by the newspaper, change newspaper when it becomes saturated.

5. Repeat this step until all wax is removed.

6. Clean and clear workspace once the task is completed.

1.       Ensure student completed dye application.

2.       Ensure student dried fabric.

3.       Supervise wax removal and Ensure students are using iron and ironing board safely.

4.       Ensure students clean and clear their workspace.
